LOVE DAY

Looooove is in the air! Valentine's Day is approaching fast, so I definitely had to hurry and get in a cute and fun vday photoshoot. I feel like Valentine's Day can be a real controversial holiday....you either love it or hate it. I personally love it. And absolutely LOVE photographing couples who are so in love. Folks, meet Tyler and Lauren Clancy. And get ready to bust out all the heart eyes. Seriously.

These two love birds are high school sweethearts. They met their freshman year of high school at their homecoming bonfire and started dating their sophomore year. As you can image they've been inseparable ever since!

Tyler proposed to Lauren at Disneyland in front of the castle...so magical!

Tyler and Lauren have been married for almost three months, so they are totally still in the honeymoon phase...which definitely makes taking photos a breeze.

I know, they're absolutely gorgeous, right? If only my husband would cooperate for lovey dovey pictures like this! So, how are you spending your Valentine's Day?

What to wear, what to wear...

Are you having a hard time figuring out what to wear for your family pictures this year?? Here's a few tips for when you are planning your family's outfits.

Are you having a hard time figuring out what to wear for your family pictures this year?? Here's a few tips for when you are planning your family's outfits.

Style: Go for casual dressy/dressy -Bring your own individual/unique taste to your pictures! It's best for parents to be neutral and kids to be a little more vibrant. Avoid the typical blue jeans and white t-shirt look. A good idea is to have boys wear nice pants/jeans and girls wear dresses. -AVOID BUSY PATTERNS! A pattern can really date a picture. Keep it simple and avoid big trendy logos. Boys look great in a shirt with a collar, even if it's a golf shirt. -Wear something that you have tried and tested. It has to be comfortable, it has to fit, and it has to boost your confidence. It shows in the pictures! -Makeup. Put on some mascara, blush and lip tint as a minimum. Foundation and eye liner are a bonus! Lip stains are the way to go to give you a natural reddish pout that will last through the shoot. For guys: Brush your eyebrows and if you have dark circles under your eyes, dab some concealer under them. Be careful shaving to avoid nicks and wear a little lip balm for smooth lips. -Hair. Natural is best! Avoid hats, unless it's something you wear every day and you really want to. Style your hair the day before. It looks more natural and less done. Spray fly-aways. -Shoes. Nice shoes, NO FLIP FLOPS. Heels for mom look fantastic, but bring an extra pair of flats in case there are areas where you would sink! Also, avoid very worn looking shoes like tennis shoes or ones that are worn every single day.

EXTRAS -Blanket. Bring a small neutral color blanket to avoid grass stains/dirt. -A favorite toy for me to hold to keep the baby/kids' attention.

POSING -I aim for natural and casual, but I also want to capture that picture perfect photo for your home, or Christmas cards. -Keep it touchy-feely, look into each others eyes, tickle, play and interact. -Toddlers can be tricky, so it's great if you have brought a small toy as a distraction! -Action shots are most often times my favorite.

The Beginning

Hello there! I have been taking pictures on and off for the last few years and finally started to dedicate more time and effort into becoming a GREAT photographer this past year. I have enjoyed it so much and get so excited with all the different aspects of photography. I have taken some online courses that have helped me tremendously and have also been able to learn SO much from a dear friend, and amazingly talented photographer Brittany LeSueur. She has been an amazing mentor! From shooting to editing, this lady has opened my eyes!

As most photographers, I started out with taking pictures of family and friends. Especially, a whole lot of my little girls. I have a special place in my heart for 1st birthday photo shoots. There's just something about looking back on how much your child has grown over a whole year!
